Book Review by Katie O. Gr. 5

Title: Island of the Blue Dolphins
Author: Scott O'Dell

Review: Have you ever felt lonely? Well, in the book Island of the Blue Dolphins, Karana is left on an island, by accident, and she is forced to survive with only her brother. But then her brother is killed by a pack of wild dogs and Karana must learn to survive on her own. Will she live? Will she die?

I liked this book because: It was action packed and it kept me on the edge of my seat.

Book Review by Leah G.

Title: Safe at Home
Author: Mike Lupica

Review: As a foster kid Nick always dreamed of being adopted. Now he is but his life is still complicated. He should be thrilled to be the first Hayworth seventh grader to be on the varsity baseball team, but the 12-year old isn't. He doesn't belong, the other players don't want him and he seems to make a mistake everytime the pitcher throws the ball to him as he squats behind the plate. Making things even better, his grades are sinking in school. His adoptive parents, both school teachers, are upset about his grades and don't understand Nick's passion for baseball. Then, Nick's best friend Gracie, decided to take action. Can Nick get back on track with both baseball and his parents with a little help from Gracie?
